Sid, what is your thinking process when you take such amazing double-exposure photographs?

Frank : I am looking for architectural highlights and other highlights on an urban background. These skills I believe are the best for this type of photography. I am also looking for a background. The best background is a large crowd, with many people.

Sid, how did you come up with this idea? Because the chances of creating a mediocre picture are high when using these images.

Frank : This is not my first time creating this type of image. Years ago, I saw a book of pictures similar to this one but they were not produced by the artist. She searched the Internet for images with a similar theme and then layered them all together. After seeing this, I used an analog camera to try it myself. This was a 2 to 3 year process. Today, I knew which kind of object worked or not.

Sid: Thanks for sharing your insights and inspirations. Could you please explain the Tierwald series to us?

Frank Tierwald is a mental illusion I created. I want to raise questions such as: Is it fiction or real? This picture looks like a tropical rainforest, or is it a mixed german forest? Is this a real forest, or a giant zoo with these animals? Is this fiction about a world without humans?

These pictures show the forest of the famous German zoo, the Teutoburger Wald.

Sid: These composites are made in a very impressive way. How do you get such amazing results?

Frank : Tierwald is a series with a simple formula – a foggy forest, and an exotic creature. Both are something that I believe everyone will enjoy. Together, it’s a kind of image we have never seen before. I only go to the forest when it’s foggy. Sometimes I am lucky and the sun shines through the fog.
