Photography is my favorite language. You can’t read a book in German, Spanish, or Russian without understanding these languages. One can read the photographs taken by a German photographer, a Spanish photographer, or a Russian. This is why photography is a powerful medium to convey one’s ideas to the viewer.
In my childhood I was a huge fan of comics like Tintin and Asterix. These books inspired me to learn how to paint. I was so taken by the cartoons and drawings that I began painting during my school years. My love of painting grew as I grew older, and eventually led me to photography.
At the moment, I am mainly interested in street photography, travel and human interest. Most of my photos are colored because I love the textures and colors of streets. The colors we use can affect our moods and feelings. For example, blue is calming, green is relaxing and orange has an energetic feel. In my photography, I enjoy experimenting with color.

Konark Basu
I am a travel and street photographer based out of Kolkata, India. I am a software engineer, but photography is my passion. I began photography in 2017. I am a part of the Federation of India Photography. I am a member of the Federation of India Photography (FIP).
My photos have won awards and been exhibited at different salon competitions all over the world. I received the Lalit Kala Award in Gujarat, India and three awards (Honorable mention) at Paris International Street Photo Awards. I won the HIPA Photo Day Contest and was a Finalist at the Siena International Photo Awards.
I am inspired by the work of many photographers. Legends include Raghu Rai and Raghubir Sing, Henry Cartier Bresson; Fan Ho; Gary Winograd; Alex Webb; David Alan Harvey; Steve McCurry. I’m also inspired by the work of many young photographers from India and Bangladesh.
